For Lucy, the presence of the hand is everything. Her brushstrokes and movements are expressive and playful, designed to draw the viewer into the finer details of her work. Rather than simply painting what she sees, Lucy uses her art to celebrate the joyful colours, shapes and textures of flora and the wild landscapes that surround her.

Lucy works across painting and drawing disciplines. Her subject matter centres around a dream-like interpretation of flowers, celebrating their movement and borderline abstract-qualities. Textiles, decorative arts and a contemporary re-imagining of the traditional still life oeuvre inform each painting. She works on meticulously drawn laser cut wooden shapes which belie expressive subject matter, enjoying the challenge of a bouquet or wildflower landscape suspended within a tray-frame, akin to a Victorian collector’s display.
