Each of Abi’s paintings tell a tale, an untold story. Colour, shape and the twists and turns of mark-making take the viewer on an explorative, bold, and joyful journey into Abi’s thoughts and connection to the world. Abi finds joy and connection in the act of painting. Inspired by the beauty she sees everywhere, she playfully experiments with form and composition, creating a unique journey of discovery in each piece. Mainly abstract, yet undeniably influenced by her gorgeous surrounding environment, you’ll see hints of the Cornish landscape including the flora and fauna of the fields surrounding her studio scattered extensively throughout her work.
Abi’s work was recently chosen by Saatchi Art to feature in their ‘New Collection’ and has been exhibited in numerous galleries including the Newlyn Art Gallery, Penwith Gallery St Ives, Exeter Phoenix, Harbour Lights Southampton and Tom Cox Gallery Crystal Palace. She has also been featured in Suboart Magazine's #17 January 2024 edition.
Abi was born in Winchester in 1978, has a BA in Media Arts & Visual Arts from Plymouth University and an MA in Contemporary Visual Arts from Falmouth University. She worked for many years with the BBC before returning to painting during the pandemic. She lives and paints from her studio in the far west or Cornwall, UK.
