Real bodies in motion, immersed in nature and community

DIVE

A contemporary art show celebrating the power of open water, swimming and the female gaze

Debbie Lawrence

Debbie Lawrence is a Brighton-based painter whose sought-after works are a joyful celebration of colour, texture and pattern. Her paintings invite viewers to reflect on our deep connection to water and the transformative power of shared human experience.

Debbie graduated in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Multi Media Textiles from Loughborough University — an experimental course grounded in drawing. She went on to build a successful career in fashion and print design before fulfilling her long-held ambition to become a painter

Recently, she captured the energy of International Women’s Day and a Pride swim, using the collective experience of people entering the water to create a figurative landscape.

At the heart of her work is a celebration of women — their strength, connection and shared joy, depicting real bodies in motion, immersed in nature and community.
